• Arriving by air:
  No special arrangements have been made with the airlines for discount symposium rates. Conference participants intending on arriving by air should make their own flight arrangements to Toronto Pearson International Airport. General discount fares are available from most airlines for trips to include a Saturday night stopover, but certain restrictions apply (e.g. advance booking, non-cancellation policy, etc.). Both the hotel and conference sites are accessible by taxi (20 minutes, about $25 - $30 fare).
• Arriving by rail:
  VIA offers convenient train service to Toronto Union Station. The public transit system (TTC) can be used to go to the hotel or the campus conference site. For the hotel, take the Yonge subway line north to the terminus, Finch station. From there take the #36 bus (Finch west) to the Norfinch Drive stop. The hotel is located about 80 meters from the stop.
  
  
  For the conference site, take the Spadina subway line north to the terminus, Downsview. From there take the #106 express or local bus right to the York University campus terminus. All lectures will be held in Vari Hall which is the Rotunda building close to the bus terminus.
• Arriving by car:
  Coming from east or west along highway 401, exit highway 400 north. Follow 400 to the first exit, Finch Avenue and go east (right) until Keele Street (second major intersection not counting the smaller streets in between). At Keele St. turn left (north). The campus will be on your lefthand side clearly marked.

A block of rooms has been set aside for IDW Conference. Mention IDW-2000 when booking to receive preferential rate of $70/night for up to 4 people in a room. Each room is furnished with queen or double beds, cable TV and a bathroom. Price includes free coffee in the room but not breakfast which can be obtained in the neighboroughing restaurant.

NOTE: The special rate being offered by the Comfort Inn expires on October 2nd. After that date, rooms will not be held specifically for us. Rooms may still be available but they will definitely be charged at a higher rate. Mention IDW-2000 or Inorganic Discussion Weekend when you book by October 2nd to get the preferential $70/night rate.

Other Places to Stay in Toronto

You may park in UNRESERVED lots 3B or 5A or 8A. We recommend you use 8A which is closest to Atkinson College and Vari Hall. Parking is free after 6:00 PM on Friday evening in these unreserved lots. Parking is a flat rate $7.00 on Saturday effective from 8:00 AM in these unreserved lots. If you should arrive before 8:00 AM make sure you go back soon after 8:00 AM to get a parking ticket or you may be towed or ticketed. You may leave for lunch if necessary and return to the same lot but confirm that with the parking attendant. Parking is free all day Sunday in the UNRESERVED LOTS. There is a multi-storied parking building but this is more expensive to use. Please avoid parking in the reserved lots at any time !

Access to parking lot 8A is best via Finch Avenue and then north on Sentinel Rd.
